One of the most common methods for dealing with panic attacks and stopping them are ‘breathing techniques’. By taking long deep breaths, and focusing on your breathing, it diverts your mind from the attack, and relaxes your body at the same time. It’s very effective for many, but not for all-but if it doesn’t work for you, don’t worry. There are other things you can try than can work just as well.



Object Focusing

If you want to learn how to stop panic attacks it is important that you learn to recognize when the attacks are coming, and then focus all your attention on any nearby object, by verbally describing every detail of that object until the symptoms have passed. It’s hard to have a panic attack when your mind is diverted off of it.

Whenever you feel the level of stress rising up inside, the best thing to do is to take a pause, get your mind on something more peaceful, and avoid letting your stress level go any higher. The more occupied you can keep your mind, the easier it will be to avoid the attacks altogether.
