There are many forms of panic disorder treatment. One of the seemingly most important parts of this treatment is in the area of psychotherapy. The therapy most commonly used for panic disorder is cognitive-behavioral therapy, or CBT.
This type of therapy deals with a person’s thought processes. By studying and diagnosing these thought processes, the person learns to implement ways of controlling and managing their anxiety, and lowering the power of panic attacks in their lives.
There are quite a few drugs that are used in treating panic disorder. Anti-depressants like Klonopin, Xanax, and Ativan are commonly prescribed. Most all medications prescribed are for dealing with brain chemicals such as Serotonin, Dopamine, and Norepinehrine, which all control different functions of the brain. Paxil, Prozac, and Zoloft are some other examples of medications dealing with these brain chemicals.
Panic Disorder treatment can be complicated due to its diversity within each individual case. Finding the right answer to each person’s need can be a trial and error endeavor. It’s best if a technique for changing thoughts and relaxing can be applied, before resorting to making medication your method of panic disorder treatment.
The good news is that panic disorder is treatable. The thing to keep in mind is not to procrastinate in seeking help with your condition. Many men find it hard to admit that they suffer from panic disorder, but if let go too long it can develop into agoraphobia, which can really be debilitating for anyone’s social and family life.
