As you read this article, you may be the person who recently has experienced a panic attack. I am one individual who can be up front in stating that I know what you may have experienced. For a period of time, back in the late 1990’s, I too suffered from panic attacks which built up to a condition called anxiety disorder. Just to let you know, that through loving support, professional treatment, and panic therapy I no longer am controlled by panic attacks. My anxiety disorder has been diagnosed as being completely gone, now for about a decade. You do not have to be in the grips of panic attacks for the rest of your life.
Regarding panic therapy, as I know first-hand, you can overcome the damage that the attacks do to your mind and body. There are proven solutions that will permanently eliminate your panic attacks. However, you must be the human being who wants to find a solution. You need to be pro-active in wanting regain control of your own being. Panic attacks can be damaging to you both emotionally and physically.
More doctors and scientists now are of the belief that prescription medication is not the long term solution with regards to panic therapy. Medications, usually in the form of pills all have secondary effects. The old-school methods that doctors used to practice involved the theory that by dulling the brain, (taking anti-depressant or anti-anxiety pills) it helped the patient to get through all of his/her panic attacks. Currently, the practice of many doctors and scientists today involves the theory that the brain should be able to comprehend when an attack is about to occur. Therapy would revolve around the individual’s brain being able to control the attack creatively. Pills meant to dull the brain are no longer considered to be long-term solutions in dealing with the problem.
Usually, there is always a trigger which leads to the panic attacks in a human being. Those who study this field of medical science believe that by providing various behavioral therapies to an individual who suffers frequent panic attacks, that the person will be able to identify his/her own personal trigger. The individual would then have the ability to understand in his/her mind the cause, (trigger) which leads to these attacks. He or she would then be provided strategic solutions by his/her doctor, allowing him/her to handle their emotions and anxiety. Once progress is made with the individual, it has been scientifically proven that these positive results exhibited by the individual would usually become permanent. These types of “holistic”, or non-tradition remedies, (not involving a reliance on prescription medication) provide better long term solutions.
Traditional medicine involving pills have only proven to be short-term solutions in that they do not get to the root cause in finding the “trigger” which leads to panic attacks. I am the individual who can attest to that belief. Although I was given prescription medication for the depression and anxiety that I went through, (solely to treat the symptoms); my psychiatrist also provided me with behavior-modification and relaxation exercises. He stated that the pills were not a long-term solution. The additional therapy that he suggested that I practice proved to be the permanent answer in conquering my condition.
If you seek panic therapy treatment, know that some methods work better than others. Again, and I cannot put too much emphasis on the following statement. Be pro-active in seeking treatment. Not doing anything about your panic attacks, over the long haul can be debilitating to you physically and emotionally.
